Elizabeth Chinomnso Agbai – Abia State maiden in FONDCUP 2022 is a pretty and vibrant maiden. She is a fun loving person, God fearing, resilient, intelligent and hardworking. According to Elizabeth, she has been preparing herself for this competition for a while and she is very ready to put in her best and go home with the crown with hopes of GOD Almighty coming through for her through out this competition.
Her major purpose for competing in the FONDCUP 2022, is to have the platform and resources to empower Niger Delta youths, through programs that promote love, peace, education, and skill development.
When asked how she would handle problems with other contestants, she responded, “If I ever encounter any personal challenges with one of my fellow contestants who isn’t friendly, I will try my best to resolve the issue with dialogue and friendliness, but if it doesn’t work, I will stay in my space and avoid such a person.”
HERE IS AN INTERVIEW WITH ELIZABETH AGBAI
Tell us briefly about yourself and family.
I am Elizabeth Chinomnso Agbai a 25 years old cashier, certified media personnel, beauty queen, pageant model, and a beauty, make-up and fashion enthusiast from Ugwueke in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, Nigeria. I enjoy dancing, singing, cooking, reading and travelling. I am God fearing, intelligent, hardworking, and resilient, I put my best to whatever I find myself doing no matter how little, my modus operandi is the golden rule “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. I was born into a middle-class Christian family of 7 where I am the eldest child. My mum has to be the strongest woman I know. Not only does she take care of the family warmly, lovingly and kindly, she also owns and runs her own business and is somehow able to keep the balance between all these and her Christian life. We never lacked motherly love, she is always available with a lot of it to give. My dad, also running his business, still manages to spend time with the family. He provides for us and protects us, he is our hero, yet our friend, a man of integrity and honour. My siblings all out of secondary school are such a set of creative people, the youngest at age 16 sews beautiful boxer shorts and is already working his way towards designing and sewing shirts and other clothings. I have been blessed to grow up in a very loving family, at some point I had to ask my mum if she and my dad never disagreed on anything because we never saw them even as much as raise their voices at each other not to talk of fight.
Who is your role model?
I honestly have a long list of people who inspire me for different reasons but for this purpose I’d say my mum Mrs Hannah Festus Agbai.
What is your ideal Niger Delta?
My ideal Niger Delta is a Niger Delta that is not solely dependent on her oil revenue, a Niger Delta that explores, enjoy and progresses in her agriculture and aquaculture sectors, a Niger Delta with good infrastructure, basic amenities and great security, a Niger Delta where peace, unity, and love are the orders of the day.
What regrets do you have so far as a young lady and a pageant model?
I like to refer to them as lessons as the things I’ve regretted at some point in my life are part of what has built me into the more stable lady I am today. I wish I had let people help out with some responsibilities I took on both at work and at home, I tend to be a perfectionist so I often find myself taking on too many responsibilities because I want things done right, somehow even now, I just always have a lot to do, my bosses, my family(nuclear and extended) simply believe “she can handle it after all” for this reason, I ended up teaching more than three classes when I was teaching but was paid same salary as for teaching a class. As a pageant model, I regret procrastinating “I’ll start contesting next year, I’ll practise the catwalk tomorrow, I’ll start working out next week” and so on. I ended up losing time. I am being more open to team work, collaborations/distribution of labour and getting things done without hesitations to avoid further regrets.
How was your FONDCUP 2022 camp experience?
My FONDCUP 2022 camp experience was all round beautiful, I fondly call it one of the best 8 days of my life because it really is. I made sisters, had fun, learnt new things, faced challenges and conquered them, prepared and delivered speeches, tasks and performances under short notices, in fact I had an amazing time in camp. It made me believe that I can achieve any and everything I set my mind to.
How would you describe your roommates(mention their names and the states they represent)
I would describe my beautiful roommates Faithful Ighoruemu(Miss Delta) and Esther Ukpong(Miss Cross River) as beautiful souls. Esther, queen mother as we fondly call her is such a strong young lady and very confident, even when she doesn’t feel so good herself she finds strength to cheer others up. Faithful, last baby extraordinaire, notices the slightest change in mood on everyone, one can never be sad around her “lizzy are you good, is something wrong, you don’t look like your normal self” she is very keen about the well being of the people around her.
What have you learnt from co-existing with your fellow maidens?
I have learnt that competing healthy is the best way to compete. Despite being in a competition, we were there for each other always, not even one of us was spiteful towards another throughout our stay in camp. I left camp feeling like I had just reunited with sisters I lost contact with for ages.
Why would you want to be the next FONDCUP QUEEN?
I have a goal of aiding the improvement of the agricultural/aqua cultural sector of our Niger Delta and empowering the youth, therefore, I would want to be the next FONDCUP QUEEN to empower myself enough to empower others as one cannot give what he/she doesn’t possess.
What is your possible solution to the constant crisis in the Niger Delta region?
I strongly believe that the restoration of the agricultural and aquacultural sectors of the Niger Delta region will eradicate the recurrent crisis in the region, as a region we have come to depend solely on the oil revenue, the struggle to get/be involved with the “oil wealth” is the major source of the constant crisis in the region.
Which rule or law in your culture and/or tradition would you want to change if given the opportunity?
None that I know of.
When you become FONDCUP2022 Queen, what would you want the Niger Delta people to recognize you with?
When I become the FONDCUP2022 queen I’d want my people to remember me with my advocacy for a Better Niger Delta.
What is your life’s greatest challenge and regret?
My life’s greatest challenge is being tolerant, I give too many benefits of doubt, I always want to see the best in people which leads to having my toes stepped on, over and over again. I am managing this challenge by giving less chances to people who tend to make the same mistakes over and over again.
